Lifecycle of a Tokenized Security

From Issuance to Custody: How Digital Securities Move Through the Operations Stack

💡
Training Course | Foundational | 11 Lessons | 227 Pages | 31 Figures | 25 Tables

A tokenized security is a familiar instrument on unfamiliar rails. The bond is still a bond and the share is still a share, but the record of ownership sits on a distributed ledger, a transfer can settle in seconds against tokenized cash, a coupon can pay itself from a contract, and safekeeping turns on control of a cryptographic key. Every one of those changes lands on an operations desk.

This course walks the security through its whole life in the order it experiences it: which rules follow it onto the ledger; how it is structured, minted, and placed; how it trades, confirms, and reports; how it settles and what the cash leg is; how it is valued, serviced, and financed; who holds it and what holding means; and how every event upstream lands in the firm's records, reports, and tax filings.

Written at the Foundational level for operations, technology, risk, and product staff at broker-dealers, investment managers, custodian banks, transfer agents, and market infrastructure firms; no prior digital-asset experience is required. Eleven lessons, each with process flows, worked calculations, a case study, and a desk-ready job aid, build to a final integrated case and an optional thirty-question examination. Two running examples carry the arithmetic and four real cases are cited to the public record.
