Privacy Policy

Investment Operations Insight LLC ("we," "us") publishes The Journal of Securities & Investment Operations. This policy explains what personal information we collect through ioinsight.net and our newsletters, what we do with it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

•        Account information. Your email address and, if you give it, your name. For paid subscribers, your subscription status and history.

•        Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe, which collects your card details and billing address. We receive confirmation of payment, the card type, the last four digits, the expiry date, and the billing country. We never see or store the full card number.

•        Enterprise information. For Enterprise subscriptions, the business contact details of the people who arrange the subscription and of the named users assigned seats.

•        Usage information. Which pages are visited and where visitors arrive from, collected by our publishing platform's built-in analytics. When a signed-in member visits, the platform records the member's account and whether it is free or paid. For newsletters, we see whether each email was opened and which links were clicked.

•        Correspondence. Messages you send us, including correction reports and permission requests.

How we use it

We use personal information to provide the Service and deliver what you have subscribed to; to process payments and renewals; to administer Enterprise subscriptions; to answer your messages; to understand which research is read so that we can decide what to work on next; to protect the Service and enforce the Terms of Use, including against shared accounts; and to meet legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do not use your reading history to build advertising profiles.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers, each of which processes data on our behalf under contract and only to provide its service to us:

•        Ghost Foundation (Ghost(Pro)), which hosts the website, manages member accounts, sends newsletters, and provides the site's analytics. Ghost's analytics data for hosted sites is stored in the European Union.

•        Stripe, which processes payments.

•        The email delivery provider Ghost uses to send newsletters, at the present time, Mailgun.]

We may disclose information where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights. If the business is sold or merged, subscriber information may transfer to the successor, which will remain bound by this policy for the data transferred.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. Our platform's analytics do not use cookies or any other persistent browser storage to identify visitors across sessions. We do not use advertising cookies.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser. Blocking the sign-in cookie will prevent access to member content.

How long we keep it

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and for three years after it closes, unless the law requires longer for tax or accounting records. Newsletter engagement data is kept for twelve months. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Your choices and rights

You can change your email address, manage newsletter preferences, and cancel your subscription from your account page, and you can unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link at the foot of every email.

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop or restrict how we use it, by writing to privacy@ioinsight.net. We respond within thirty days.

Readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. We process personal information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), for our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Journal and protecting it from misuse, and on the basis of your consent where we have asked for it. In addition to the rights above, you have the right to data portability and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Our business is in the United States. Where your data is transferred there, our service providers rely on standard contractual clauses or other recognized safeguards.

California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to ask us to delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.

Security

Members sign in with a link or one-time code sent to their email, so we hold no member passwords. Payment data stays with Stripe. Access to subscriber data inside the business is limited to the people who need it to run the Service.

Children

The Service is written for professionals and is not directed to anyone under eighteen. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced by email to members or by notice on the site before they take effect, and the date at the top will change.
